If you are interested in walking or cycling there are plenty of options all around Laouarde. Maps of local walks can be provided and bicycle hire can be arranged in Vic-Fezensac. There are also several local equestrian centres if you wish to explore the area on horseback.

You can take boat trips along the river Baïse from the port at Condom, half hour north of Vic or hire canoes to explore the same river under your own steam from Beaucaire. There are numerous local swimming lakes, the nearest being at Gondrin, which offer such things as water flumes, wind-surfing and sailing.

If you are a keen golfer, there are three courses within a half-hour drive of Laouarde. Golf d’Embats outside Auch and Golf de Guinlet at Eauze are both 18 holes and Golf de Fleurance is a top quality 9 hole course.

At the Circuit Paul Armagnac in Nogaro there are regular bike, car and lorry races throughout the summer, and there is a school of race driving attached if you want to give it a go yourself.

For those who prefer more peaceful activities, the Gers also has several thermal spas, the closest to Laouarde being at Castéra-Verduzan, a 15 minute drive away, where you can swim in the natural spring waters as well as having pampering treatments. Luxury private treatments can also be booked to take place here at the house.

Last, but not least, the region abounds with vineyards, producing high quality wines, Floc (the local aperitif) and Armagnacs. Many domaines sell directly to the public and are more than happy to provide tastings for visitors. Not far from Vic, you will also find Chateau-Monluc, a 16th century chateau that is these days best known for its production of Pousse-Rapière, a liqueur based on Armagnac with an orange flavour. Visitors can tour the ancient cellars and sample the produce.
